9 May: Moncrieff has released his long-awaited debut album, maybe it’s fine, and shares the latest track to be taken from it, Something To You.
Though it might be Moncrieff’s first album, maybe it’s fine is the culmination
of a decade-long musical journey which has seen the Waterford-born singer rack up over 40 million streams and win over fans from Elton John to late producer/DJ Avicii.

Over twelve wildly divergent tracks that span gospel-powered epics (Somebody’s Baby), late-night confessionals (I Just Don’t Think I’ll Make It Over You), euphoric pop (Shangri-La), future-facing R&B (High For Free), liquid funk grooves (Hard Feelings) and more, Maybe It’s Fine finds Moncrieff surveying his own evolution as an artist and a person. From the struggling songwriter still trying to make sense of the loss of his siblings when he was a teenager to the multifaceted artist behind such hit releases as 2022’s Warm, winner of the prestigious RTÉ Choice Music Prize for Irish Song of the Year.
“I started this journey into music ten years ago and trying to condense it into twelve songs was difficult,” Moncrieff says of the album. “In that time, I’ve been countless different versions of myself. This album is the story of that growth. Where I’ve come from, where I am and where I’m going.”
The tracks Moncrieff has released from maybe it’s fine so far have given a small taste of the depth and breadth of sounds and styles on the album. Today, he also shares Something To You, yet another song that pivots into fresh territory for the singer; its bouncing acoustic shuffle and pristine new wave sparkle masking a darker emotional undertow.
“It’s dressed up as a bit of a party song, but underneath it’s about wanting to be used if that’s the only way you’re going to get something from someone,” says the singer. “I met this person at a house party, and it was so exciting. However, my feelings became a bit deeper and theirs were never really there. But it was such a fun thing that you don’t really care. Like, I don’t care if it’s all or nothing, I just want to be something to you… Whatever it is, I’ll take it.”
