Hayley Williams on Re: This Is Why

We’ve long wanted to recognize the connection we have with some of the artists who’ve influenced us as a band and/or who have cited our band as an influence. Some of the songs have been remixed sort of classically, while others were reworked or rewritten. It’s incredible to hear all our worlds colliding.

We sent ‘This Is Why’ – the record – out into the world early this year, with all its messages of disdain, distrust, and sobering self-examination.

This is the Reply.

Hayley Williams sat down with Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show last night.

When Paramore revealed they were recording together in January 2022 the response from music fans around the world was immediate and celebratory. In the time since the Grammy-winning, RIAA-certified multi-Platinum band released their last album, After Laughter  – and Hayley Williams unveiled two lauded solo albums – Paramore have become more popular than ever.  Over the last few years, Paramore’s influence and popularity has snowballed, as the age of streaming organically propelled them into a position as one of the world’s biggest, most culturally compelling rock bands. For the band, who formed as teenagers in Tennessee, their 20-year trajectory has seen them grow from youthful outsiders to bone-fide pop culture icons, permeating the musical landscape by inspiring a new generation of musical talent.

This Is Why is the band’s most critically lauded release to date and the album’s title track gave them their first #1 at Alternative Radio in the US and was voted “Hottest Record Of The Year” by listeners to BBC Radio One in the UK.The record scored numerous top 10 positions around the world including #1’s in both Australia and the UK and debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200. This Is Why has been named one of the best albums of 2023 so far by numerous media outlets including Rolling Stone, Billboard, Stereogum, and more. The single, “Running Out Of Time” currently sits in the Alternative Top 20.

Paramore will continue to tour in support of their long-awaited return album, including tour dates in New Zealand and Australia next month. Paramore will join Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour as the opener for all 48 dates of the 2024 European leg of the tour. The European leg kicks off in Paris on May 9th and wraps in London on August 17th at Wembley Stadium, one of six nights the tour will spend at the legendary venue. Paramore opened for Taylor Swift on the very first two shows of Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour in Glendale, AZ in March of this year.

This Is Why is Paramore’s excellent foray into post-punk”Rolling Stone

This Is Why is their most biting, fearless, and aggressive work to date, as Paramore channel their rage into a tenacious call for political action and self-reflection… the result is a tight, 10-track effort that blends the band’s past eras—from the teen angst of RIOT! all the way to the quiet confidence of Williams’ 2020 solo LP Petals for Armor—and marries nostalgia with the starkness of our 2023 lives.”  – The Daily Beast

“it’s Williams’s most unvarnished vocal performance in nearly a decade.” – New Yorker

“a fearless triumph” – Rock Sound

“An outstanding return” – Clash

Announced last month, Ed Sheeran said of Autumn Variations –“Last autumn, I found that my friends and I were going through so many life changes. After the heat of the summer, everything either calmed, settled, fell apart, came to a head or imploded.”  “When I went through a difficult time at the start of last year, writing songs helped me understand my feelings and come to terms with what was going on, and when I learned about my friend’s different situations, I wrote songs, some from their perspectives, some from mine, to capture how they and I viewed the world at that time. There were highs of falling in love and new friendships among lows of heartbreak, depression, loneliness and confusion.”“My dad and brother told me about a composer called Elgar, who composed ‘Enigma Variations’, where each of the 14 compositions were about a different one of his friends. This is what inspired me to make this album. When I recorded Subtract with Aaron Dessner, we clicked immediately. We wrote and recorded non-stop and this album was born out of that partnership. I feel he has captured the feeling of autumn so wonderfully in his sonics and I hope everyone loves it as much as I do.”

Ed Sheeran will play two sold out shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall on the 18th and 19th November. Set to perform his upcoming album ‘Autumn Variations’ in full on both nights – where Ed will also be accompanied by a live band and string section – it will be the only remaining chance to see him perform in the UK this year.

HXNEY’S BRAND-NEW SINGLE “HAPPY ENDING” OUT NOW

HXNEY’S BRAND-NEW SINGLE “HAPPY ENDING” OUT NOW!

LISTEN/STREAM HERE

Singer HXNEY has released her latest single “Happy Ending” available now via Diffusion Lab on all DSPs and streaming services HERE.

Lyrically, the song “is a reminder to us all that life comes with ups and downs and there is no reward without sacrifice even in love.”

The singer explains “The most rewarding love story will have some parts of it that aren’t so ideal but that’s just life. This means something to me because it shifts my perspective of the idea of perfectionism I’ve had for so long and now understanding life is what we make of it.”

She hopes this track reminds people that “We have to cherish the good with the bad and we’ll find our Joy”

Speaking about the creative process for this song, HXNEY explains that The writing process for this song was unique because me and my co-writer ‘Solow the Astronaut’ played a game where he came up with a line then it became my turn to write the next line, and we went back and forth like that until we had all the lyrics written and then we worked on the melodies after. We ended up with a perfectly written song that has a lot of sentimental references.

The song is produced by Chris Bubenzer (Benza) and the production process was honestly seamless for this song, we just vibed out the whole time because we were so obsessed with this song.”

“Happy Ending” is out now on Diffusion Lab.  Listen / Stream HERE

“Love it! Anthem! This should be a hit record! Great lyrics sung with authenticity!”… DAVID HOLMES

Menrva, comprise of brothers Luke and Christian Papenfus, the House Music production duo hailing from Northern Ireland. The brothers have been making waves on the House Music scene over the last few years. They are unleashing their new single “Peaches’ today. The track is themed on the Jill Scott track “Hate On Me” featuring the incredible vocals of Abby P.  The brothers knew they could reimagine this R&B modern classic with house music sensibilities and bring it to a new audience.

LISTEN HERE

Though some might interpret “Peaches” as an expression of self-confidence and empowerment while evoking feelings of freedom and liberation, the brothers prefer to leave the interpretation up to the listener as essentially what they have delivered in “Peaches” finds life on the dancefloor. The brothers are from a musical family and from a young age, they embraced a symphony of instruments, nurturing a deep passion for music that would ultimately shape their unique creative styles.

Before becoming the musical powerhouse known as Menrva, Luke and Christian embarked on a diverse journey through the sonic landscape. Their musical odyssey began with forays into Hip Hop, Grime, and Drum and Bass, each genre serving as a stepping stone in their artistic evolution. However, it was the vibrant city of London that truly shaped their musical destiny. The brothers relocated to the British capital, where they would spend six transformative years. The brothers honed their craft independently at this time, both exploring many genres and roles in music as producers/writers.

In the vibrant metropolis of London, a city teeming with culture, resounding with music, and bursting with limitless creative potential, Luke and Christian discovered themselves completely engrossed in the city’s opulent musical landscape. The pulsating beats of 4/4 dance and the irresistible charm of house music served as potent catalysts, sparking a passion that would chart the trajectory of their future pursuits.

Fuelled by this newfound inspiration, Menrva came into existence, bringing with it not only the rich musical diversity cultivated throughout their journey but also the undeniable, contagious energy that London had generously infused into them.

Their duo’s journey in music has been marked by consistent support from influential platforms like Radio 1, Kiss FM, and Cool FM. Notably, their tracks have graced the airwaves and featured on Love Island, catapulting them into the spotlight. Menrva’s remixes for renowned artists such as Lennon Stella and Tom Grennan have further solidified their reputation as artists / producers. In addition, Menrva’s previous releases garnered widespread acclaim, receiving support from industry heavyweights like Steve Aoki, Tiesto, Sagala, and many more, showcasing their ability to captivate both listeners and fellow musicians alike with their unique sound.

With an unrelenting dedication to their craft, the dynamic duo has been hard at work crafting new material that is poised to make a significant impact on the music scene in the very near future. Culminating in a recent signing with Warner Music Ireland and now partnered with 67 Management. The new deal with Warner Music Ireland sees them as long-term artists, along with international plans for the DJ/Producer duo.  It’s anticipated to be a big song for the guys seeing them re-enter the market with a new team to push them internationally for the first time.

Stay tuned for what Menrva has in store, as their musical journey continues to evolve and captivate audiences worldwide.

INCLUDES POWERFUL NEW BALLAD “SOME THINGS I’LL NEVER KNOW” & BILLBOARD HOT 100 HIT “LOSE CONTROL”

PERFORMING LIVE ON THE TODAY SHOW THIS MORNING

NORTH AMERICAN HEADLINE TOUR KICKS OFF SEP 22

September 15, 2023 (Los Angeles, CA) – Today, vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims releases his highly anticipated debut album I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1). Listen HERE via Warner Records. Never one to pick a speed, the eclectic artist’s new body of work mixes pop, soul, funk, and blues to highlight his velvety rasp. Among the highlights is his new focus single “Some Things I’ll Never Know,” an intimate, gut-wrenching exploration of love and loss. Watch the video HERE.

About “Some Things I’ll Never Know,” Teddy says, “I’m the kind of person that wants to know I’ve turned over every stone and done absolutely everything I possibly could to keep someone in my life. But, sometimes you can’t control what people do or know why people do the things they do. Some relationships end without any closure and leave you with nothing but questions.”

Also included on the album is the viral sensation Lose Control,” which recently became Teddy’s first-ever entry into the Billboard Hot 100, where it sits at #81 and climbing. To date, the track has amassed over 81 million streams and counting. Fans can watch him perform the song live on The Today Show this morning.

The album takes you on a ride with the intimate hymn “Last Communion,” followed by the rhythmically leaning “The Door,” an R&B anthem from another era. It’s clear that Teddy is being more vulnerable than ever before on I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1) — which is part of a longer journey of healing. “My debut album is an honest look into my mental health journey,” Teddy says. “It is my first step towards being vulnerable about this journey and the steps I need to take to heal.”

The album follows 2022’s Sleep is Exhausting and Tough Love EPs, which capped a busy year that included playing sold-out shows around the globe and lending his powerful pipes to ILLENIUM’s “All That Really Matters,” Meghan Trainor’s Bad For Me,” and MK Burns’ “Better.”

On September 22, Teddy will bring I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1) to fans across the country as his North American tour kicks off in Minneapolis. It’s destined to be one of the year’s hottest tickets, given Teddy‘s renowned showmanship. He brings passion and poise to every performance, and now, with his album finally landing, an exciting new chapter begins for the southern singer.

Irish alt/rock collective NewDad announce details of their debut album, Madra, set for release on 26 January 2024 through Fair Youth/Atlantic. The album news comes with the release of ‘Angel’ – the band’s grunge-fuelled album opener. Awash with spiralling guitars and a hypnotic bassline, singer/guitarist Julie Dawson finds inspiration in TV show Euphoria, as she ruminates on the destructive relationship of characters, Rue and Jules: a storyline that she herself gravitated towards.

Madra (meaning “dog” in Irish) is an 11-song, guitar-stacked visceral outing, as singer/guitarist Julie Dawson embarks on a journey of self-exploration, self-sabotage, and reflection. Soaked in dysfunction, Madra searches for solace in pain, tackling themes of bullying (‘Where I Go’), self-medication/depression (‘Madra’, ‘Let Go’), destruction (‘Change My Mind’, ‘White Ribbons’), co-dependency (‘Nosebleed’) and resistance (‘Nightmares’). The album artwork, photographed by Irish creative, Joshua Gordon, shows a broken doll that serves as a metaphor for the album’s themes of fragility and vulnerability.

The album finds NewDad reconnect with their musical roots, digging deep into the shoegaze/rock sonics that soundtracked their formative years (the band cite Pixies, The Cure and Slowdive as some of their biggest early influences), together with glimmers of indie/pop that harks back to their earlier material: ‘Waves EP’ (2021) and ‘Banshee EP’ (2022). Written in their home city of Galway, Ireland, before the band moved to London this year, and recorded at the legendry Rockfield Studios (Black Sabbath, Queen), the album has been produced by NewDad’s long-time collaborator Chris W Ryan (Just Mustard) and mixed by Alan Moulder (The Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, Wet Leg). Bound together by Julie’s ghostly vocal – a vessel for her weighty, introspective songwriting – Madra firmly marks NewDad as one of Ireland’s most promising debut guitar bands.

Speaking of the band’s debut, Julie says – Madra meaning dog in Irish explores various difficult parts of the human condition and the idea of the title is that these feelings that come up are sometimes ones you can’t escape, feelings that follow you around like a dog. We had an amazing team around us who helped bring these songs to life and we’re so excited for this album to be out in the world. We hope that people connect with the songs and that Madra can be a comfort to everyone who listens.”

This week, NewDad played a sold out show at London’s The Lower Third. They will tour the UK and Ireland in February/March 2024.

SWEETLEMONDAE NEW SINGLE ‘GIMME A REASON’ OUT TODAY

SWEETLEMONDAE NEW SINGLE “GIMME A REASON”  OUT NOW!

LISTEN/STREAM HERE

Rapper Sweetlemondae has released her latest single “Gimme A Reason” available now via Diffusion Lab at all DSPs and streaming services HERE.

Lyrically, the song explains the feeling of not having your needs and expectations met in a relationship, whether it be with friends, family or a partner. Tempted to walk away, Sweetlemondae raps openly and honestly, asking for a reason to stay with that person: “Tell me you’re all in /Give me your lovin’ / I’ll stay till the morning / Just give me a reason.”

The 23-year-old explains This song reminds me to always say how I feel, so things can get worked through. It’s a combination of different experiences I’ve had and I’ve used them to narrate a story. I think everyone can relate to it in some sense – whether it’s a friendship, relationship or family.”

She hopes this track “reminds other people to always say how they feel so things can get worked through.”

Through her raw and authentic lyrics, Sweetlemondae expresses how she’s “Looking for a reason / Going through the seasons” highlighting the rollercoaster of emotions that goes hand in hand with relationships. “It’s never easy to tell people how you feel, especially when you know it’s gonna hurt them in some way.”

Speaking about the creative process for this song, Sweetlemondae explains that “Gimme A Reason” was the hardest to let go of because I was obsessed with it when we first made it and then I started to not like it as much, so it’s gone through various versions of itself but when we stripped it back and started from the beginning I regained my love for the song!”

LEIGH-ANNE RELEASES LATEST SINGLE ‘MY LOVE’ FEATURING AYRA STARR

LEIGH-ANNE RELEASES LATEST SINGLE ‘MY LOVE’ FEATURING AYRA STARR  WITH ACCOMPANYING MUSIC VIDEO

Today, Leigh-Anne releases the latest single ‘My Love’ featuring Nigeria’s rising star Ayra Starr with an accompanying music video via Warner Records out now.

The anemic and infectious track sees Leigh-Anne as she explores the complex truths about self-love and relationships. Leigh’s appreciation for afrobeats/afropop is seen throughout ‘My Love’ as she recruits Magicsticks (Asake) for production and tag-teams with Nigerian artist Ayra Starr. Collaborators on Leigh-Anne’s sophomore single also include PRGSHN, Khris Riddick-Tynes of The Rascals, Alex Goldblatt, Kameron Glasper and DYO.

The Meji Alabi-directed music video follows on from ‘Don’t Say Love’ as Leigh-Anne emerges from the ocean further cementing her rebirth as a solo artist. The choreography-filled music video sees the duo dance their way through the hustle and bustle of Lagos whilst appreciating Nigerian culture, friendships and love as well as shining a light on local actors and dancers.

Speaking on the track Leigh-Anne states “When we wrote this song, I just knew it was something special, it perfectly captures the essence of who I want to be as a solo artist. That feel-good, powerful, and anthemic song – it’s all about celebrating self-love and embracing its incredible power, and when there was a discussion on a feature I know Ayra was the only one who could embody and amplify this message.”

‘My Love’ follows on from Leigh-Anne’s well-received debut single as a solo artist ‘Don’t Say Love’. Produced by Jon Bellion and Pete Nappi, co-written by Aldae, the track combines her smooth vocals with a high-energy, garage-infused beat.

Growing up Leigh-Anne had popstar tunnel vision. In 2011, Little Mix were formed. The rest of that journey is, of course, history. 11 years later, Little Mix are one of the best-selling girl groups of all time as well as one of the UK’s biggest-selling acts, with over 75 million records sold worldwide, 6 UK Platinum albums and over 15 billion streams.

IRISH ALT-POP ARTIST VALERIE ROSE SAYS GOODBYE TO SUMMER

VALERIE ROSE, IRISH ALT-POP ARTIST, SAYS GOODBYE TO SUMMER IN HER NEW TRACK “SEPTEMBER”

OUT NOW VIA DIFFUSION LAB

LISTEN / STREAM HERE

Valerie Rose released her new single “September” on Friday, September 8th. The song is about the end of summer and the arrival of autumn, the season of change.

Lyrically, the song depicts the change of seasons and elegantly describes the struggle people have in leaving the long, warm, and bright summer days: “Will I lose my feeling after daylight? / Doesn’t feel right that summer said goodbye / Hate to see her go.”

Valerie was going through an unfamiliar time as a result of starting a new school. She discovered she was letting fear take hold after creating the song, and her experience turned out to be more joyful than she could have expected. This song serves as a reminder that there is hope in the midst of change. Looking back, she says “I was getting ahead of myself.  It turned out I adored the new school and the people I met. They were so supportive and became true friends. Those memories mixed with the dark skies inspired the song.”

The guitar and melody were initially recorded on her phone’s voice memo app as inspiration struck. She then worked on the track with past collaborators Adam Cooke and Chris Bubenzer AKA Benza, with whom she previously collaborated on her most recent releases “Don’t Wanna Talk About It”, “My Head,” and  “Rip My Calendar.”
