David Guetta hits landmark two billion Spotify streams!

Already verified as the most-followed artist on Spotify with 6.8 million followers, David Guetta has become only the third musician in history to reach two billion streams on the music streaming service.

“I want to thank you so much for helping me reach this incredible milestone, 2 billion streams on Spotify! Wow, mind blowing!” – David Guetta

Guetta, who follows Eminem and Ed Sheeran into the history books, has helped to pave the way for dance music becoming a defining part of contemporary music culture across the world. His latest album, ‘Listen’, released in November 2014, already boasts four international chart hits, while his most recent single ‘Hey Mama’ feat. Nicki Minaj, Bebe Rexha and long-term collaborator Afrojack has had 95 million global streams and is currently #6 on the Global Spotify charts.

“It is amazing to see David add his name to the very select “2 billion streams” club. He is the first DJ to reach this milestone which is an amazing achievement but looking at how dance is exploding at the moment as a genre, I hope he will be followed by others very soon. A big thank you to Spotify for working with us to make all this happen, and massive thanks to David who keeps making amazing music that people love! “- Bart Cools, EVP Global Marketing and A&R Dance Music, Warner Music Group

Will Hope, Spotify’s Director of label relations, commented: “David Guetta is obviously one of the most popular artists on Spotify globally, so him smashing the 2 billion plays milestone should come as no surprise. But it is worth also noting that he achieved this landmark thanks to his huge fan base of over 15 million fans on Spotify who listen to his music every month, and who together helped him hit this landmark in record time.”

You can listen to the smash hit along with David’s latest influences and club favorites on The David Guetta Selection, updated weekly and an essential listen for dance music lovers.

As a thank you to his fans on the platform, David Guetta has released a brand new and exclusive remix by up and coming Dutch DJ/producer Boaz Van De Beats of his current hit single “Hey Mama”. Listen to it here.

Rudimental New Music Video Never Let You Go

RUDIMENTAL PREMIERE OFFICIAL VIDEO FOR NEVER LET YOU GO

AVAILABLE NOW AS AN INSTANT DOWNLOAD FROM NEW ALBUM
WE THE GENERATION
OUT 18 SEPTEMBER THROUGH MAJOR TOMS/ASYLUM RECORDS

Marlay Park with Avicci on Friday July 3rd, 2015.

Global platinum-selling four piece RUDIMENTAL have premiered the official video for their new single, Never Let You Go.

The uplifting track is brought to life in glorious multicolour as we soar across the globe, witnessing people of all ages and all cultures painted in vivid hues. Crossing deserts, lush fields, mountains and inner cities, both the good and the bad sides of humanity are exposed, with the ultimate message of unity conveyed in a harmonious melding of colours. These themes have always been key to the Rudimental story and the new video provides the first hint of how We The Generation is set to take this message global. It was shot by director Nez, who previously worked with the band on the Waiting All Night video (now on 114 million views) and was shot in multiple locations around the world, including the UK, Morocco, Ukraine and LA.

Never Let You Go is the first track to be taken from the new album and is available now as an instant download when pre-ordering the album, as well as on streaming services. We The Generation marks a progressive Rudimental, a genre-defying collective that will continue to change the face of electronic music, not just within the UK music scene but globally. Always imbuing soul and musicianship in everything they do, Never Let You Go updates the much-loved style fans have come to expect from these musical pioneers; a huge euphoric anthem that will undoubtedly be a global summer smash.

The new 14-track album follows their 2013 critically-acclaimed debut Home, which made them one of the only British bands to breakthrough on their debut that year. Home earned them a Mercury Prize nomination and landed the band their first BRIT Award for British Single for Waiting All Night ft. Ella Eyre (a singer that up until then was a virtual unknown and who is back for round two on this record!) Rudimental have become renowned for discovering and nurturing the hottest new up-and-coming talent and We The Generation continues this. On this record, we see them championing incredible new young UK singers, such as Mahalia on title track ‘We The Generation’, Anne-Marie (who has signed to the bands brand new record label Major Toms) and Will Heard. Of course there are also a few household names such as Lianne La Havas who wanted to get in on the act. Rudimental’s extended family is one of the most dynamic musical collectives out there with every vocalist naturally immersing themselves in the melting pot. There are special moments in abundance on We The Generation, one particular moment comes in the form of ‘New Day Coming’, a standout future-soul classic in waiting that features vocals by the late Bobby Womack – one of the last tracks he recorded vocals for before he passed away. They have once again struck musical gold: sound-clashing live instruments, progressive beats and soulful voices. This is what sets Rudimental light years ahead of their contemporaries.

To mark this as an even more monumental moment for the band, they have announced their very own record label, aptly named Major Toms after their Hackney HQ, out of which the band was born. Their first signing to the label is up-and-coming UK singer, Anne-Marie, who has been an invaluable part of the Rudimental family in their live set up, having toured with them for the last couple of years.

Rewinding to the beginning of this amazing journey in 2012, ‘Feel The Love’ had taken its place firmly at the No. 1 spot, selling over 90,000 copies in its first week. They were the name on everyone’s lips…Who were these four guys from Hackney? How did they craft a song so huge it was an instant hit and one that resonated with all sorts of music fans from all walks of life, but also which maintained such a sense of musicality – a rare and exceptional combination these days. And that’s the thing about Rudimental; they are a collective with a strong musical heart that inject soul into everything they do. With influences ranging from Sly and the Family Stone to Bobby Womack, George Clinton and Steely Dan, We The Generation exemplifies that message and musicality.

Their talents exceed most hit-makers out there; theirs is a sound that is limitless. Collectively they have gone on to sell over 5 million singles worldwide, a true testament to how important and relevant this band is. The upbeat and euphoric feeling that is their trademark permeates everything, whether it’s a huge drum and bass lead track like ‘Never Let You Go’ or a classy house track like ‘Rumour Mill’ (a track the band describe as ‘Spoons Part Two’) – positivity is the key.

Rudimental have never been just a drum and bass or electronic act, there’s always been precision and skill behind everything they do. This has been demonstrated in their award-winning videos that have now racked up an impressive 244 million views across their YouTube channel. But their live set up is where they come into their own, taking these huge songs and translating them on stage and making every single person in the audience feel like they are part of something – no easy feat. Their live achievements to date are something pretty spectacular, from headlining three nights at Brixton Academy in October 2014 (selling out within a week) to supporting Ed Sheeran on his recent US arena tour and a monumental performance at Glastonbury last year on The Pyramid Stage. But it doesn’t stop there – this year alone they are confirmed to headline The Other Stage at Glastonbury, Lovebox, plus their very own Wild Life Festival on 6 June, amongst festival appearances around the world. Furthermore they have been invited back to support Ed Sheeran at his upcoming Wembley Stadium show on 11 July and appear at Marlay Park with Aviici on Friday July 3rd.

As you can tell from the band’s Facebook and Twitter, their fans are always central to the Rudimental journey. So, today the band have asked them to join the revolution and be part of their generation – to create their own bespoke versions of the new album cover. Fans can upload an image at http://rudimental.co.uk and create their own personal artwork for We The Generation, share it online and be in with the chance of winning their own personalised version of the vinyl album, signed by the band.

Rudimental are a band to bet on. We The Generation will be the album you can rely on to soundtrack the summer, be a huge global success and propel them into international stardom. There is no ceiling to this band, they keep growing and striving for more and rightly so. They are about to take the ‘Made In Hackney’ stamp and make it global.

The Classic Video Game World of blur’s Ong Ong

Ong Ong will be the new song lapped up at Hyde Park this summer.” – NME

A three-chord wonder.” – Q Magazine

*“A warm-hearted chant-along declaration of fidelity.” – Mojo

Tony Hung, the award-winning British-born Chinese artist, has directed the video for blur’s latest track, the *‘warm-hearted chant-along declaration of fidelity’ which is Ong Ong, taken from the group’s latest chart-topping album The Magic Whip.

The track triggered Hung’s memories of 80’s gaming, with references including Mario, Popeye, Dig Dug, Ms Pac Man, Circus Charlie, Fantasy Zone, Kirby’s Adventure, Mickey Mouse, Ghostbusters Stay Puft, Reservoir Dogs and of course, Atari. The narrative is torn straight from a classic platform game and features Mr OK, the hero who rescues his beloved from the clutches of evils bosses.

Written by Gabrielle with long time writing partner Luke Potashnick, ‘LIGHT UP THE DARK’ immediately telegraphs Aplin’s fresh Feist-meets-Cat Power style. Mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, The National, Florence + The Machine), ‘LIGHT UP THE DARK’ is available as an instant grat track for fans who pre-order her upcoming second album which shares the same title.

Months of touring the world with ‘English Rain’ improved Aplin’s musicianship exponentially – her guitar and piano skills were heightened, and spending most of her time with other musicians added a new dimension to her songwriting. Also vital was her experimentations with different microphones, vintage equipment and old synths.

The new album was inspired by Joni Mitchell and the production on Feist’s ‘The Reminder’ and . “Her voice is just here, right at the front, and everything sits around it perfectly. I’ve also become much more comfortable writing songs about other people’s stories as well as my own, much of which is inspired by travelling and everything I’ve seen since my first album.”

Before signing to Parlophone Records, Gabrielle set up her own label to release music aged 15. Her breakthrough came at the age of just 19 with her interpretation of ‘The Power of Love’ which hit the top of the charts. The follow-up ‘Please Don’t Say You Love Me’ secured the Radio 1 A-list and lit up the singles chart as did subsequent singles ‘Panic Cord’, ‘Home’ and ‘Salvation’ helping Aplin race to 1.5 million single sales. Her debut album ‘English Rain’ peaked at #2 and was soon certified Gold for sales in excess of 100,000 copies. This album success was replicated in Australia were the album also went Gold. Aplin is no stranger to Dublin, playing the famed Ruby Sessions in Doyles very recently.

Stereophonics announce new album details.

Stereophonics release their new single, ‘C’est La Vie’, from their forthcoming ninth studio album, ‘Keep The Village Alive’, due September 11th on their own Stylus Records label through Ignition Records. The band headline V Festival August 22nd and 23rd.

Brand new single ‘C’est La Vie’, is a breath of fresh air, petrol charged and whip smart.  The accompanying video once again directed by Kelly Jones, his sixth successive video direction for the band, Kelly collaborated with acclaimed cinematographer John Conroy (Broadchurch, Fortitude, Luther) and sees Antonia Thomas (Misfits, Sunshine on Leith), Aneurin Barnard (Hunky Dory, Ironclad) and Mathew Aubrey (Made In Dagenham, Just Jim) all star.

‘Keep The Village Alive’ comes hot on the heels of the acclaimed, platinum selling ‘Graffiti On The Train’ (2013) and once again Kelly Jones has written all the songs and shared production duties with long time collaborator Jim Lowe. The album was recorded at ICP Studios in Brussels and at Stylus Studios in London.

Since winning a Brit Award for Best New Group in 1998 Stereophonics have gone from strength to strength, consistently delivering outstanding music over several decades, a band consistently at the very top of their game.

They are the eighth group to achieve five consecutive UK number one albums – the others being The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, ABBA, Genesis, Oasis, Blur and U2. They have career sales of over 10 million albums including six platinum or multi platinum albums and the quadruple platinum selling best of collection – ‘Decade In The Sun’. The band have also had eleven top ten singles including the phenomenal number one single ‘Dakota’. Sterophonics sold out 16 arena shows on their ‘Graffiti On The Train’ tour, selling over 150,000 tickets.
