IRELAND & UK TOUR FEB/MARCH 2024

“NewDad’s first full-length shows them expanding on their indie-pop roots, adding extra gnarly post-punk bite and more sophisticated textures to their updated mix of The Cure, Slowdive and Curve” – Uncut

“NewDad find a winning immediacy and existential angst that’s reminiscent of the Cure, Wolf Alice or New Order” – The Observer

“A compelling mix of alt-pop, folk balladry and all manner of fuzzball spookiness” – Record Collector

“NewDad are the Irish shoegazers trying to set out their own generational path” – Rolling Stone UK

“The way in which NewDad’s music untangles the minutiae of major life changes has won them the hearts of a young, devoted following to whom they are somewhere between friends and emergent rock heroes – awe-inspiring and aspirational, but also accessible” – NME

“A debut album of formidable heights” – Dork

Entering 2024 as one of Ireland’s brightest new bands following a slew of hype from the likes of NME (check out their recent cover feature), Rolling Stone UK, The Observer, Uncut and 6 Music, today, NewDad release their acclaimed debut album ‘Madra’ on Fair Youth/Atlantic (listen here). Spending the bulk of last year advancing their status as one of Ireland’s most anticipated alt/rock bands, NewDad released a series of track drops in the run-up to their debut – ‘In My Head’, ‘Angel’, ‘Let Go’, ‘Nightmares‘ and ‘White Ribbons: a demonstration of the Galway outfit’s fuzzy shoegaze sound and melanonic lyricism, which has seen them become lauded as heroes of existential turmoil.

The band’s debut album, Madra (meaning “dog” in Irish), is an 11-song, guitar-stacked visceral outing, as singer/guitarist Julie Dawson embarks on a journey of self-exploration, self-sabotage, and reflection. Soaked in dysfunction, Madra searches for solace in pain, tackling themes of bullying (‘Where I Go’), self-medication/depression (‘Madra’, ‘Let Go’), destruction (‘Change My Mind’, ‘White Ribbons’), codependency (‘Nosebleed’) and resistance (‘Nightmares’). The album artwork, photographed by Irish creative, Joshua Gordon, shows a broken doll that serves as a metaphor for the album’s themes of fragility and vulnerability.

The album finds NewDad reconnect with their musical roots, digging deep into the shoegaze/rock sonics that soundtracked their formative years (the band cite Pixies, The Cure and Slowdive as some of their biggest early influences), together with glimmers of indie/pop that harks back to their earlier material: ‘Waves EP’ (2021) and ‘Banshee EP’ (2022). Written in their home city of Galway, Ireland, before the band moved to London this year, and recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios (Black Sabbath, Queen), the album has been produced by NewDad’s long-time collaborator Chris W Ryan (Just Mustard) and mixed by Alan Moulder (The Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, Wet Leg). Bound together by Julie’s ghostly vocal – a vessel for her weighty, introspective songwriting – Madra firmly marks NewDad as one of Ireland’s most promising debut guitar bands.

Speaking upon the album’s announcement, Julie said – “Madra meaning dog in Irish explores various difficult parts of the human condition and the idea of the title is that these feelings that come up are sometimes ones you can’t escape, feelings that follow you around like a dog. We had an amazing team around us who helped bring these songs to life and we’re so excited for this album to be out in the world. We hope that people connect with the songs and that Madra can be a comfort to everyone who listens.”

Most recently, Julie sat down with 6 Music’s Huw Stephens for a round table 2023 round-up (listen here). The band will tour IRELAND & UK in Feb/March, taking in London’s KOKO on 5 March.

TIËSTO, RUDIMENTAL & ABSOLUTELY UNITE FOR “WATERSLIDES”

LISTEN TO “WATERSLIDES” HERE

Tiësto has united with award-winning British collective Rudimental and rising South London singer-songwriter Absolutely for the new collaborative single, “Waterslides,” available everywhere now HERE.

Always open to exploring new and different styles of music, Tiësto started closing out his festival performances earlier this year with some drum & bass tracks and fans went wild. Due to the response and support from the drum & bass community, Tiësto took things a step further collaborating with Rudimental to come up with an original, which perfectly paired with Absolutely’s smooth vocals. Known for her sharp pen and signature alien-pop sound, Absolutely has written songs for the likes of Normani, Ty Dolla $ign, and Anitta. She recently dropped her debut album, Cerebrum, opened for her sister RAYE on a global tour, and is finally shining the spotlight on her talents as an artist in her own right. “Waterslides” proved to be a viral smash following its SoundCloud premiere last month.

“I’m always open to exploring new and different styles of music, and when I started closing out my festival performances earlier this year with some Drum & Bass tracks the fans went insane ! It was incredible experimenting with this genre and working with Rudimental and Absolutely on this one !” – Tiësto

Heidi Klum has taken many paths throughout her long career, leaving her mark as a supermodel, businesswoman, fashion designer, host, and producer of successful shows like “Germany’s Next Topmodel,” “Project Runway,” and “America’s Got Talent” in the fashion, beauty, and tech industries for many years. Additionally, she proves once again with her new song “Sunglasses At Night” that she’s always in the mood to sing and dance.

The single, released by Warner Music Central Europe, is also the title track for the upcoming season of “Germany’s Next Topmodel” and produced by Tiësto. The Dutch DJ, music producer, and Grammy Award winner has given a danceable electronic update to Corey Hart’s 1983 New Wave song, ideal as background music for runway and for those who want to dance with their sunglasses, especially at night.

I was thinking about the moment in the middle of the night at a party when you have been up way too late, your makeup has melted off, you are sweaty and cross-eyed, and all you crave is a pair of sunglasses,” says Heidi Klum. “This scene reminded me of the iconic 80s hit, Corey Hart’s Sunglasses at Night. I am beyond ecstatic that I was able to remix and re-record this track with my EDM hero Tiësto. What an honor!“

“Heidi is a great friend so naturally it was a lot of fun to work on this one together! We were hanging out when she shared her idea to remake the original 80’s hit and I wanted to help her on the production! I love how the track turned out and I’m super excited for her and this release.” – Tiësto

“Superstar Heidi Klum covering “Sunglasses At Night” is like a seductive supernova dance explosion on the bright side of the moon!” – Corey Hart

Heidi’s first posts on Instagram already made it clear: The song combines cool beats and sexiness with mysterious looks hidden behind dark sunglasses and an intensely addictive, hypnotic dance beat. This remake of “Sunglasses At Night,” already performed by Tiësto in November at a show in Las Vegas, has the potential to become the new dance anthem. Fans of the “Germany’s Next Top Model” had a taste of Heidi Klum as a singer during the finale of the show in 2022 when she, along with her husband Tom Kaulitz, performed their song “Chai Tea with Heidi.” The track was created in collaboration with none other than rap legend Snoop Dogg but was not Heidi’s first song release. In 2006, her debut single “Wonderland” was released, a Christmas song written for a Douglas advertisement, with all proceeds going to a children’s charity in her German hometown of Bergisch Gladbach.

Add new live dates due to exceptional demand, including

The Royal Albert Hall in London, May 30

To further celebrate the 25th anniversary of Air’s seminal debut album Moon Safari, a Deluxe audio-video package will be released via Parlophone/ Warner Music on March 8. This follows huge excitement that the iconic French duo will play their widely celebrated album in its entirety for the first time across Europe this February & March. All dates on the original tour sold out in record time and given the exceptional demand for tickets, Air have now added further dates to their touring schedule for late spring and into the summer including a night at The Royal Albert Hall in London and key appearances across Europe, including a headline show at legendary electronic music festival Sonar in Barcelona.

The album re-issue (a Deluxe 2CD/Blu Ray Audio-Video) will include a Spatial Dolby Atmos audio version of the original album along with super rare or previously unreleased tracks as well as Mike Mill’s 1998 documentary film ‘Eating, Sleeping, Waiting & Playing’ filmed during the band’s first ever worldwide tour and more…

Celebrating its 25th anniversary last year, the release of Moon Safari catapulted Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel to the uppermost rung of electronic music’s ladder and left an indelible imprint on pop culture at the end of the 20th Century.

Despite being young 20-somethings at the time and having only released one EP to date, Godin and Dunckel’s stars aligned and together they were blessed with the creative skill to make the perfect electronic pop songs. These two students of astrophysics and architecture set about creating their own universe with the confidence and pedigree of seasoned pros.

Today, the record’s legacy is canonical, but at the time of release, its multi-million success was far from assured. Says Dunckel: “We were a duo doing some electronic thing, dreaming of selling 10,000 copies and being recognised by other musicians as cool. Then suddenly, we met the world.” In no time at all, AIR’s downtempo influence was easy to detect all around.

Through Moon Safari, Air’s music infiltrated and transfixed some of the great visionaries of the late 20th century – David Bowie, Madonna, Beck – as well as influencing preeminent aesthetes of the incoming age – including Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kevin Parker and Sofia Coppola, whose creative relationship with Air became as synergetic as that of Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynch (another fan).

Moon Safari birthed hit singles in ‘Kelly Watch The Stars’, ‘All I Need’ and ‘Sexy Boy’, sold millions of copies around the world, and pushed Air into headline status at major festivals. 25 years on, it’s not hard to reason why Moon Safari has stood the test of time. It’s a mood you want to live inside of forever. It’s a revelation. It’s conversation pit music for a better future.

Dunckel sums up his own album as “a deep, universal spell, full of love and mystery.”

“To me,” Godin concludes, “Moon Safari is perfect.” And who can argue…

“Saviors has fire in its belly and ice in its veins” – The Sunday Times

Global rock superstars Green Day – Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool – have unveiled their highly anticipated 14th studio album, Saviors. Along with the record, the band released a video for new track “Bobby Sox,” which has all the classic punk rock panache that only Green Day can deliver.

Listen to Saviors HERE

“Bobby Sox” is one of my favorite songs on the album,” shares Billie Joe Armstrong“It’s the Nineties song that we never wrote. It started out being a song I wrote for my wife but as it materialized, I wanted to switch it up and added, ‘Do you wanna be my boyfriend?’ on top of ‘Do you wanna be girlfriend’… So the song becomes a kind of universal anthem.”

Saviors features previously released bombastic tracks “One Eyed Bastard,” “Dilemma,” “Look Ma, No Brains!,” and “The American Dream Is Killing Me,” which were all met with huge praise from Rolling Stone, Alternative Press, SPIN, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, and more. Just last night, Green Day celebrated the album release with an intimate show at NYC’s Irving Plaza, as a part of SiriusXM’s Small Stage Series. The concert follows their takeover of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, where the band kicked off 2024 with cuts from Dookie, American Idiot, and a killer TV debut of “Dilemma,” which Rolling Stone hailed as “one of the album’s best songs.”

Over the last few months, Green Day have given fans a taste of what to expect from their forthcoming world tour with surprise performances around the world. Whether they were packing a pub in the U.K. for an impromptu intimate performance,  or rocking out with diehard fans at a sold-out surprise show in Las Vegas just days before their killer headline sets at When We Were Young Festival, Green Day made sure to bring the energy leading up to the birth of Saviors.

Recorded in London and Los Angeles, Saviors is the latest powerful collaboration between Green Day and Grammy-winning producer Rob Cavallo, whose notable previous work with Green Day includes two of the band’s most iconic albums, 1994’s Dookie and 2004’s American Idiot.

Jimmy Fallon and Green Day busk in disguise on a subway platform in New York City, performing “Basket Case” and a cover of “Feel Like Makin’ Love.”

Green Day’s larger-than-life global stadium tour – The Saviors Tour, fueled by Monster Energy – kicks off in Europe this May before making its way to North America in July for an intoxicating summer run through the states. Earlier this week, the band revealed on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show that, for the first time ever, they’ll be performing both Dookie and American Idiot albums in their entirety this summer in celebration of their 2024 milestone anniversaries, along with fan favorites and cuts off the new album. All tour dates can be found HERE and below.

RACHEL CHINOURIRI ANNOUNCES DEBUT ALBUM WHAT A DEVASTATING TURN OF EVENTS

RACHEL CHINOURIRI ANNOUNCES DEBUT ALBUM

WHAT A DEVASTATING TURN OF EVENTS

OUT 3RD MAY VIA PARLOPHONE / ATLAS ARTISTS

SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘NEVER NEED ME

WITH VIDEO STARRING FLORENCE PUGH

Praise for Rachel Chinouriri

If you’ve ever had a secret crush, obsessed or felt utter despair over someone, Chinouriri’s direct way of discussing love and loss will resonate with you” – The Observer

“A glorious throwback of a track, the London singer’s new song is a break-up beauty awash in the sonic tics and tricks of mid-Eighties new wave and soft-pop” – The Times

“…this plea for respect in a relationship, one that glows ever brighter as the Croydon singer-songwriter’s harmonies stack higher and higher” – The Guardian

“One of the most promising indie… voices in the UK” – Rolling Stone UK

“one of indie’s greatest hopes and current sparkling gems… Heartbreakingly raw but brilliantly delivered. Rachel Chinouriri is a star” – Dork

“All I Ever Asked’ is a saccharine slice of introspection atop bright keys and meandering guitar work, its bittersweet lyrics recount break-up heartache and not being given the love you know you deserve.” – gal-dem

Alternative indie pop artist Rachel Chinouriri today announces details of her long-awaited debut album What A Devastating Turn Of Events, due Friday 3rd May 2024 via Parlophone/Atlas Artists.

What A Devastating Turn Of Events is a culmination of the experiences, challenges and joys of Chinouriri’s life so far, explored through the prism of musical stylings honed through years of experimentation and creation. Ever-eclectic and brutally honest, the album traverses life’s light and shade, the writing and sharing a healing process for Rachel, and she hopes, her listeners.

Rachel says, “It’s finally here. The moment most musicians dream of when they’re a child. I can’t believe it’s real in a way, but I’m proud of it. What A Devastating Turn Of Events should feel like discovering a personal journey of all the hardship and struggles that have ultimately made me the person I am today. I was lost when I first made this album, when I felt so lost within myself but also in London. I was on a search to find myself and I can say I’ve managed to do that by the end of this process and have found a love for myself that I never thought was possible. I feel fortunate enough to be able to document that process and have it in physical form and sound. Hopefully it’ll help other people realise that it takes tough times, self accountability, betrayal and uncomfortable moments to finally get to a point of true self love. I’m more than ready for the next chapter”.

Following lead single ‘The Hills’, Rachel today shares the soaring indie pop anthem ‘Never Need Me’, a bittersweet and empowering ode to putting yourself first despite caring deeply about another person. She shares: “I made this song with a sense of heartbreak but empowerment. It’s about taking your power back the moment you realise that helping someone is actually hurting you because they aren’t willing to change. Sometimes you end up enabling someone instead of actually helping them and carrying their load is tough. Never Need Me is the moment you wish them well but you can’t continue to harm yourself by helping them. It’s always a tough decision to make but once you make it, it’s a weight lifted off your shoulders for sure.”

‘Never Need Me’ comes complete with a music video directed by Jacob Erland and starring Academy Award nominated actress Florence Pugh who features as Rachel’s supportive bestie. Of coming together to work with Rachel on the ‘Never Need Me’ video, Pugh shares: “Recently I was in LA and I was listening to a few of her songs and I thought, you know what, I’m actually going to reach out to this amazing artist and I just said ‘Thank you for making my day today’ and then she replied and was also a fan and then this idea came that I was in her music video!”

Rachel will play her biggest sold out headline show to date at London’s KOKO on 6th March 2024. In celebration of the announcement of her debut album, Rachel also announces two US headline dates in New York and LA in March, plus a run of intimate in-store shows across the UK next month – see below for full list of dates.

On What A Devastating Turn of Events, Rachel Chinouriri is unflinching and mesmerising as she invites us into her world and the experiences that have shaped her to become the person she is today. Despite facing up to the darkest parts of herself and her life – relationships, loneliness, regret, abuse, unconditional freedom, self-harm, alcohol abuse and ultimately, death – Rachel asks us to consider the beauty amongst it all too.

The record examines the thoughts that had been swirling around her head: there are more long-standing themes of love, self-deprecation, unworthy exes and finding her boundaries in the album’s first half, but then in the second half, things get heavier.

It’s a turning point,” she says, “Each song represents how you deal with trauma, but on the second half it’s when you get bad news and your world turns upside down.” This is an album which deals with grief, heartache, hurt, and what she calls the “worst-case scenarios” when these things are left unspoken for too long.

“I’m a lot better now,” she smiles, “And all of these topics don’t hurt me anymore, to a degree, but they shaped me and made me the person I am. When these things happen, you will never be the person you were before then, you adapt; and I think this album reflects that. It’s a healing tool, and I’m hoping people listening to it might feel less alone.”

In the process of learning to collaborate with other writers and producers in the creation of her debut album, Rachel was able to create the sonic world that she’d long been searching for. From soft acoustics to shiny indie pop to roaring scuzz, there’s her mellifluous vocal, the sumptuous harmonies, and even occasional bouts of cheeky, chatty speak-singing à la Kate Nash and Lily Allen, through which she builds upon her penchant for candid, lyrical songwriting.

What A Devastating Turn Of Events’ expansive palette was fleshed out with executive producer Rich Turvey (Blossoms, The Courteeners, The Coral), and co-credits include hip-hop behemoth Kenny Beats, and writers like Aaron “Apob” Paul O’Brien, Glen Roberts, Mary Weitz, and her long-term collaborator Daniel Hylton-Nuamah.

LIAM GALLAGHER & JOHN SQUIRE THE OASIS AND STONE ROSES LEGENDS ANNOUNCE A NEW COLLABORATION

THE OASIS AND STONE ROSES LEGENDS ANNOUNCE A NEW COLLABORATION

FIRST SINGLE ‘JUST ANOTHER RAINBOW’ COMING ON JANUARY 5TH

PRE-ORDER THE 7” VINYL / PRE-SAVE HERE

Collaborations don’t get much more biblical than this. Solo star, Oasis legend and force-of-nature Liam Gallagher has teamed up with John Squire, one of the most influential guitarists and songwriters of his generation via his time with The Stone Roses. The duo will set a high watermark for 2024 when they release their first single together, ‘Just Another Rainbow’, on January 5th, with more new music to follow as the year unfolds. The single is now available to pre-order on 7” vinyl and to pre-save at HERE.

It takes mere seconds to identify ‘Just Another Rainbow’ as the work of the duo, as John’s instantly unforgettable psychedelia-tinged guitar motif leads into a classic Liam vocal – full of passion, personality and utmost conviction. And from here it becomes exactly what you’d hope the duo to deliver: layers of guitar that spin seemingly effortlessly from the infectious melodic rush that recalls ‘I Am The Resurrection’ to an intensity that echoes ‘Love Spreads’, all topped by Liam’s signature star quality.

John says, “To me the most obvious take on ‘Just Another Rainbow’ is that it’s about disappointment, and the sentiment is that you never get what you really want. But I don’t like to explain songs, I think that’s the privilege of the listener, it’s whatever you want it to be. To me, it’s also one of the most uplifting tracks we’ve made together, which is weird.”

Liam adds, “I think John’s a top songwriter. Everyone always bangs on about him as a guitarist, but he’s a top songwriter too, man, no two ways about it as far as I’m concerned. There’s not enough of his music out there, whether it’s with the Roses or himself. It’s good to see him back writing songs and fucking good ones. The melodies are mega and then the guitars are a given. But I think even when you take all the fucking guitars off, you can play the songs all on acoustic and they’ll all still blow your mind.”

While this represents the duo’s first collaboration together, the first time they were in a room together was way back in 1989. The then 16-year-old Liam attended a Stone Roses gig at the International 2 in Manchester around the time their self-titled debut album was released, a show that he describes simply as “life-changing.” It was another four years before they met when both bands were recording in Monmouth, Wales: Oasis had just started work on what would become ‘Definitely Maybe’ while The Stone Roses were deep into sessions for ‘The Second Coming’. And when John first heard ‘Definitely Maybe’ he knew it was something special within the opening few bars of ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Star’.

Their friendship continued in the subsequent years, notably with the pair writing ‘Love Me and Leave Me’ for John’s later band The Seahorses, who also toured as guests to Oasis. But it wasn’t until John jumped on stage at Liam’s gargantuan Knebworth Park show for climactic performances of ‘Champagne Supernova’ that the prospect of working together on something more substantial became a reality.

With John enthused by both the prospect of working with Liam as well as the rush of performing in front of huge audiences again (his final Stone Roses show was six years ago by this point), the idea rapidly took shape. John sent Liam an initial three songs (Liam’s review? “All mega”) and then quickly wrote some more, with the duo then collaborating remotely and sending each other reference points. They were all the greats. Hendrix. The Pistols. The Faces. Bob Marley. And, erm, The Bee Gees.

From thereon in, the project took on a life of its own. Liam arrived at John’s studio in Macclesfield and vowed to complete vocals for two demo recordings each day, a promise that he stuck to, and soon enough they had a catalogue of killer songs to choose from. From there it was off to Los Angeles for three weeks of sessions with revered producer Greg Kurstin who plays bass on the record, with drums courtesy of Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M., Atoms for Peace). They unlocked a shared musical intuition that felt so natural it was almost as if they had always been a band.

There will be much more new music to come – and there could well be shows, too – but for now ‘Just Another Rainbow’ lives up the highfalutin expectations that come with such a collaboration.
