Blur – The Magic Whip – The New Album

It’s 16 years since their last album as a four-piece and 24th April sees the release of a brand new album from blur on Parlophone, titled The Magic Whip.

The recordings, which began during a five-day break in touring in Spring 2013 – at Avon Studios in Kowloon, Hong Kong – were put aside when the group finished touring and returned to their respective lives.

Last November Graham Coxon revisited the tracks and, drafting in blur’s early producer Stephen Street, he worked with the band on the material. Albarn then added lyrics and the 12 tracks of The Magic Whip are the result.

The ‘Brit Awards 2015’ album combines the best of the present with the best of the past: a triple CD set covering an astonishing array of musical talent, from the best of the present to the best of the past.

Chris Walla may have left Death Cab for Cutie last year, but he’s still with the band. That was probably to be expected; after 17 years together, it’s difficult to just pick up and move on. So while Walla’s departure created what frontman Ben Gibbard called “a line in the sand” – a demarcation between past and present – it didn’t stop him from contributing to Death Cab’s new album, both as a musician and an inspiration for its title.

Ed Sheeran to Welcome Back VH1 Storytellers With Personal, Live Concert!

The singer-songwriter will perform from Dublin’s Whelan’s, where he witnessed a life-changing Damien Rice concert.

It’s been three years since VH1 last aired an episode of their acclaimed performance series Storytellers, but the show will make its grand return 2015 with a new slate of artists and a tinkered format: For the first time, the concerts will be broadcast live on VH1. First up is singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, who will perform January 24th from Whelan’s in Dublin, Ireland.
