Lady Gaga paid tribute to David Bowie

Lady Gaga stepped out onto the Grammy stage tonight for the evening’s tribute to the late David Bowie. The singer channeled his look and costumes as she ran through a medley of his biggest hits, including “Space Oddity,” “Changes,” “Ziggy Stardust,” “Fame” and “Heroes.” She was backed by a horn section and orchestra, with Chic’s Nile Rodgers on guitar. Rodgers produced Bowie’s 1983 album “Let’s Dance” and was the music director for this Bowie tribute.

COLDPLAY ANNOUNCED AS GLASTONBURY HEADLINERS

COLDPLAY ANNOUNCED AS GLASTONBURY HEADLINERS
BAND TO MAKE RECORD-BREAKING FOURTH HEADLINE APPEARANCE

Coldplay today became the first headline act to be confirmed for Glastonbury Festival 2016. They will top the Pyramid Stage bill on Sunday, June 26th.

The band will become the first artists to headline Glastonbury on four occasions, following previous Pyramid Stage headline appearances in 2002, 2005 and 2011. Their 2011 set was later voted the Top Glastonbury Moment of the event’s long history by BBC Radio listeners.

The Glastonbury performance will be Coldplay’s only festival show of this year’s A Head Full Of Dreams Tour. The band have already sold more than two million tickets for their run of stadium dates in Europe, the U.S. and Latin America. The entire tour – which includes four nights at London’s Wembley Stadium – is now close to selling out.

Since the December release of Coldplay’s seventh album, A Head Full Of Dreams, the record has reached Number One on iTunes in more than 90 countries and sold over 3 million copies. It has also helped Coldplay to their current position as Spotify’s most-streamed band in the world.

Following the band’s vibrant Halftime Show performance at Super Bowl 50, A Head Full Of Dreams currently sits at Number One in the UK album chart, with its two singles Adventure Of A Lifetime and Hymn For The Weekend both in the UK Top 30.

COLPLAY 2

Tomorrow night (Wednesday, February 17th), Coldplay will receive the Godlike Genius award at the 2016 NME Awards, where they will also play a set. The following week, the band will perform at the 2016 BRITs, where they have been nominated for Best British Album and Best British Group. This takes their career total to 23 BRITs nominations (more than any other band).

A new digital EP will then be released every subsequent Friday with music featured in that week’s upcoming episode. This first-of-its-kind slate of musical offerings will culminate with a second full-length soundtrack, “VINYL: MUSIC FROM THE HBO® ORIGINAL SERIES – VOLUME 1: FINALE,” to be released both physically and digitally and on all streaming services on Friday, April 15th coinciding with the season finale, airing Sunday, April 17th.

Informed by Scorsese’s renowned innovative use of music in film and Jagger’s intimate insight on the era, “VINYL: MUSIC FROM THE HBO® ORIGINAL SERIES – VOLUME 1” takes the listener on a musical journey with new and previously released material – all featured in the season premiere – from an array of rising stars and legendary artists, including the one and only David Johansen, who revitalizes a pair of classics by his seminal group the New York Dolls with re-recordings exclusively for the series. Original highlights include “No Good,” the breakout rock single from Elektra/Atlantic recording artist Kaleo that was featured in the latest VINYL trailer, and “Sugar Daddy (Theme From Vinyl),” the series’ main title and first new music from GRAMMY® Award-nominated, Atlantic recording artist Sturgill Simpson (see attached tracklisting).

“VINYL: MUSIC FROM THE HBO® ORIGINAL SERIES – VOLUME 1” further showcases material featured in the series premiere, including the original song “Rotten Apple,” co-written by VINYL co-star James Jagger along with Mick Jagger, Luis Felber and James Dunson, and performed by Nasty Bits, a band featured in the show that is fronted by James Jagger. Additional highlights include tracks from Soda Machine and Vintage Trouble’s Ty Taylor – who has also been cast as the singing voice of the series’ character Lester Grimes. The soundtrack also captures the electric energy of New York City in the 1970s via a bounty of indelible pop, rock, disco, and soul favorites from such iconic stars as Otis Redding, Foghat, Jimmy Castor Bunch, Dee Dee Warwick, Edgar Winter, The Meters, and much more.

Likewise, each week will bring a robust slate of new content in the form of musical offerings tied to every episode throughout the season. The aforementioned series of eight EPs will each feature an exciting combination of original tracks written and produced exclusively for the series, vintage songs from the period re-recorded by contemporary artists, and a wealth of catalog favorites, all either appearing in or inspired by music in that week’s episode. Some of the artists contributing recordings include Charlie Wilson, Iggy Pop, Chris Cornell, Julian Casablancas, Charli XCX, Jesse J, Nate Ruess, Royal Blood, Jess Glynne, Trey Songz, The Arcs, DJ Cassidy, Alex Newell, and many more. Additionally, multiple promotional music videos tied to tracks found on the soundtracks and featured in the show will be unveiled throughout the season.

Meghan Currier, who supervises the music in the series with Poster, co-produced. Executive producers are Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger, Terence Winter, and Atlantic Records Chairman/CEO Craig Kallman.

GLEN HANSARD’S A SEASON ON THE LINE EP

GLEN HANSARD’S A SEASON ON THE LINE EP DUE FEBRUARY 19 VIA ANTI- RECORDS

DIDN’T HE RAMBLE NOMINATED FOR BEST FOLK ALBUM AT 2016 GRAMMY AWARDS

GlenHansard_ASeasonOnTheLine_a2

A Season on the Line, the new EP from Glen Hansard, will be available February 19. The album follows Hansard’s Grammy-nominated (Best Folk Album) second solo outing Didn’t He Ramble, which was released last fall. During his worldwide tour in support of Didn’t He Ramble, two songs continued to appear in his set—“Didn’t He Ramble” and “Way Back in the Way Back When”—though neither were included on the recent album or on any official release. This is all part of Hansard’s creative process—honing songs in a live setting. Due to popular demand, Hansard included the two songs on the new EP.

Recorded at Chicago’s Electrical Audio Studios on a day off between shows and featuring his touring band, “Didn’t He Ramble” and “Way Back in the Way Back When” bristle with all the energy that made them staples of the live show. A Season on the Line is rounded out by the tracks “Let Me In” and “Return,” both of which are from the intimate recording sessions for Didn’t He Ramble.

Hansard will continue to tour worldwide in support of the new music, including European dates next month. See below for details.

Hansard is the celebrated principal songwriter and vocalist/guitarist for the influential Irish group The Frames. Whether busking the streets of Dublin, where he got his start, or headlining a gig, Hansard has garnered a reputation as an unparalleled frontman. Hansard is also one half of the acclaimed duo The Swell Season. In 2007, he and Czech songstress Markéta Irglová took home the Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Falling Slowly” off the Once soundtrack. In 2013, the Broadway adaptation, Once, The Musical, won eight Tony Awards including the top musical prize itself. His debut solo album Rhythm & Repose was released in 2012.

In addition to the new album, Panic! released a stunning new video for “Emperor’s New Clothes” directed by award-winning filmmaker/choreographer Daniel “Cloud” Campos

The clip continues upon 2013’s Cloud-directed “This Is Gospel” video, which has earned close to 40 million views. Panic! At The Disco will introduce fans to DEATH OF A BACHELOR with appearances at a number of radio festivals around the holidays and intimate shows in early January 2016 – London’s Brixton Academy on Jan. 12, New York City’s Le Poisson Rouge on Jan. 14, and Los Angeles’ historic Tower Theatre on Jan. 19.

Produced by Jake Sinclair (Taylor Swift, Fall Out Boy), DEATH OF A BACHELOR marks the first release from Panic! At The Disco in nearly two years, following 2013’s acclaimed TOO WEIRD TO LIVE, TOO RARE TO DIE!. The album has already generated significant steam – current single “Victorious” rocketed to #1 on iTunes Top Songs chart, # 1 on Billboard + Twitter’s Trending 140 chart, while also trending worldwide on Tumblr and Twitter. The track is currently soundtracking postseason baseball coverage on the MLB Network and will also be featured in the trailer for 2K Sports’ hugely anticipated “WWE 2K16” video game, set to debut Sunday, Oct. 25 during WWE Network’s Hell In A Cell event and then air across all WWE programming including USA Network’s WWE Raw and Syfy’s WWE Smackdown.

The first single off DOAB, “Hallelujah,” made chart history for the band with a Top 40 debut on Billboard’s “Hot 100” – Panic! At The Disco’s second Top 40 hit and first since 2006’s breakthrough classic, “I Write Sins, Not Tragedies.” The album’s title track premiered exclusively on Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio where Urie described “Death of A Bachelor” as, “It’s like some Beyoncé beats with some Sinatra vocals. It’s really crazy… [Sinatra’s] music has been a major player in the soundtrack of my life. So it’s only right that I return the favour and/or pay it forward.”

DEATH OF A BACHELOR is the follow up album to TOO WEIRD TO LIVE, TOO RARE TO DIE! which made a top 2 debut on the SoundScan/Billboard 200 upon its 2013 release. The album was fuelled by the RIAA gold certified single, “Miss Jackson (Feat. Lolo),” and quickly proved a top 10 favourite at Modern Rock radio outlets nationwide. In addition, the song’s companion video – featuring actress Katrina Bowden (30 Rock) – scored major rotation at MTV2, mtvU, FUSE, and Logo’s “NewNowNext,” while earning close to 25 million views.

Released in 2005, Panic! At The Disco’s double platinum-certified debut, A FEVER YOU CAN’T SWEAT OUT remains one of the biggest selling debuts in Fueled By Ramen history. Singles like the 2x-platinum smash, “I Write Sins Not Tragedies,” earned the band international acclamation and a fervent fan following around the globe, also receiving a number of major honours including multiple Grammy® nominations and the prestigious MTV Video Music Awards “Video of the Year” prize for the “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” video.

Panic! At The Disco’s acclaimed second album, PRETTY. ODD. arrived in 2008, debuting at #2 on SoundScan/Billboard 200 album chart upon its initial release. The album’s popular success was matched by a wave of critical applause, with NME declaring it “a victory for artistic ambition over cynical careerism, one of the feel-good psych-pop albums of the year.” They returned three years later with VICES & VIRTUES. The album – which features, “The Ballad of Mona Lisa” and “Ready To Go (Get Me Out Of My Mind)” – made a spectacular chart entry upon its March 2011 release, entering the SoundScan/Billboard 200 at #7, while also coming in at #2 on SoundScan’s “Alternative Albums” chart.

Furthermore, Panic! At The Disco has made high profile TV appearances, including ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers, TBS’ Conan, CBS’ The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, the nationally syndicated Ellen DeGeneres Show, Fox’s New Year’s Eve Live, NBC’s Miss Universe 2013, and CBS’ broadcast of The 36th Annual Kennedy Center Honours, in which Urie paid tribute to honoree Billy Joel with a characteristically idiosyncratic take on the classic “Big Shot.”
